BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.– According to BCSO Spokesperson Dan Moon, deputies responded to a shooting which occurred between 11:30 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. at 3242 Estate Road in Moncks Corner Tuesday night.
Deputies arrived to find a 22-year-old male victim had been shot at least one time in the face.
Chief Deputy Rick Ollic indicated that the incident appears to be a home invasion in which two African-American males, one wearing a mask over his face, armed with handguns and a long gun forced their way into the residence when the victim answered the front door.
The assailants then forced the victim’s girlfriend to take them through the residence to search for items to pilfer. At some point, the victim was shot and the suspects fled the scene.
In addition to the victim’s girlfriend being present, her toddler-aged child was also in the residence at the time the incident occurred.
The victim was subsequently transported to the hospital, where he is in stable condition awaiting surgery.
Chief Ollic indicated that two persons of interest have been developed in the case and it is hopeful that arrests will be forthcoming.
He encouraged anyone having information about this incident to contact the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office or Crime Stoppers of the Low Country at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
