MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – A North Charleston man has been charged in connection with an early morning shooting that landed one person in the hospital Wednesday.
Around 3:27 a.m., Moncks Corner police responded to the Tail Race Tavern at 418 Barony Street in Moncks Corner for a reported shooting. When officers arrived, they secured the scene and learned that someone drove the victim, Nathaniel Ford, 34, of Goose Creek to Trident Hospital.
Police said the suspect had already left the scene in an unknown vehicle. The crime scene unit and detectives arrived at the scene and began processing the scene and interviewing witnesses. The victim was released from the hospital later the same morning.
Through the investigation, detectives were able to identify the shooter as 19-year-old Justin R. Pedersen of North Charleston. Police said the investigation revealed that the suspect, Pedersen, shot the victim, Ford, multiple times while both were behind the Tail Race Tavern in Moncks Corner.
Later in the day, detectives were able to obtain arrest warrants for Pedersen for attempted murder and possession of a firearms during a violent crime..
On Thursday, Pedersen surrendered himself to Moncks Corner detectives at the Hill Finklea Detention Center in Moncks Corner.
