According to Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell, a Berkeley Co. couple has been charged with manufacturing methamphetamine.
Ravenell stated that his deputies were called to I-95 and Highway 301 just before 7 p.m. Tuesday after the South Carolina Highway Patrol began chasing the couple.
The chase ended after Kristi Nicole Gladstone and Ricky Dewayne Johnson reportedly crashed the vehicle. It’s not known which one was driving.
Ravenell stated that troopers located what appeared to be materials involved in manufacturing methamphetamine in a backpack. The items in the backpack were declared to be inactive.
Gladstone and Johnson were transported to the Orangeburg County Detention Center.
Orangeburg Magistrate Peggy Doremus set bond at $7,500 cash or surety.
