CROSS, S.C. – A new face is joining the Cross High administration team.
At Monday night’s board meeting, Berkeley County School District’s board members unanimously agreed to name Ferdinand Cooper as Cross High’s new assistant principal, with his contract set to begin Dec. 18.
“I’m just looking forward to joining the Cross High family and serving the community,” Cooper said.
Cooper comes from Fairfax, South Carolina. He studied K-12 music education at Livingston College and has a Masters of Education in Educational Administration and Leadership from Liberty University. He is currently working on his Doctorate of Education in Leadership & Innovation with a specialization in sport administration.
Cooper most recently served as the program manager of the CARE Project at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, and the director of visual performing arts at Allendale County School District.
Cooper started his teaching career as a high school band teacher in North Carolina in 2011. He came to South Carolina in 2014 to teach high school band at Fairfield Central High in Winnsboro before moving on to Allendale-Fairfax Middle/High School in 2018.
Board member Yvonne Bradley, who is a Cross High graduate, spoke in support of the board’s decision.
“I expect big things from Mr. Cooper at Cross High School,” she said.
