CAINHOY, S.C.–On Monday afternoon, the Cainhoy Fire Department responded to 422 Greenann Court off of Clements Ferry Road for a reported structure fire.

According to Chief Steve Goodwin, firefighters were dispatched at 3:16 p.m. and arrived on scene with the first engine minutes later at 3:19pm.

Upon arrival, crews say they found heavy smoke showing from a mobile home.

Neighbors on scene reportedly told firefighters that they were unsure if anybody was home.

The chief says Cainhoy firefighters made an aggressive attack and quickly contained and extinguished the fire within minutes.

A search of the building was performed, and it was confirmed that nobody was inside.

Goodwin says the building was ventilated to clear all of the smoke out and the rest of the building was checked for fire extension with no findings.

Clements Ferry Road was closed in the area for approximately one hour due to a fire hose having to cross the road to reach a fire hydrant.

No homeowner or firefighter injuries were reported.

The fire damage was contained to one room and a hallway, Goodwin stated.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation; however, Goodwin says it does not appear suspicious in nature at this time.

Cainhoy Fire Department was assisted on scene by the City of Charleston Fire Department.

Berkeley County EMS also responded to the scene.
