Berkeley County Announces July 4 Holiday Closures

Government offices, libraries and courthouse will close July 3; landfill and Cypress Gardens remain open

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. — Berkeley County residents planning to visit government offices, libraries or the courthouse during the Independence Day holiday weekend will need to make alternate arrangements, as several county facilities will close in observance of the July 4 holiday.

Berkeley County Government announced Thursday that county offices, library branches and the courthouse will be closed Friday, July 3, ahead of the Independence Day holiday on Saturday, July 4.

While many county services will pause for the holiday, some facilities and operations will remain available to residents throughout the weekend.

Landfill and Convenience Centers

Residents will still be able to dispose of household waste on Friday, July 3, as the Berkeley County landfill and all convenience centers will operate under their normal schedules that day.

However, all landfill and convenience center locations will close on Saturday, July 4.

Bond Court to Remain Open

Although other court operations will be suspended for the holiday, Bond Court will continue to operate on an adjusted schedule.

Bond Court sessions are scheduled for:

  • Friday, July 3, at 9 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 4, at 8 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

County officials noted that all other courts will be closed on Friday, July 3.

Cypress Gardens Open for Holiday Weekend

For residents and visitors looking to spend time outdoors during the holiday weekend, Cypress Gardens will remain open throughout the July 4 period.

The popular Berkeley County attraction will be open Friday, July 3, through Sunday, July 5.

Holiday Preparations Encouraged

County officials encourage residents to plan ahead if they need to conduct business with county offices, visit library branches or access courthouse services before the holiday weekend begins.

Most county operations are expected to resume normal schedules following the holiday observance.
