MONCKS CORNER, S.C.–It was a welcomed staple in the heart of downtown Moncks Corner. However, after opening its doors several years ago, Miz Scarlett’s Table has served up its last meal. It recently closed its doors for business.
A phone call to the restaurant only results in an operator’s voice stating that the “number is no longer in service.” According to the restaurant’s Facebook page, the restaurant closed due to a health-related issue within the family.
“Thanks to everyone that have called and sent messages regarding my mother’s health. I am her full-time caregiver now and I wouldn’t have it any other way, as I will treasure this time with her,” wrote the owner on January 11th.
The owner says her mother had a stroke last year leaving her little time time to run a business and care for her mother as the same time.
“Sadly, I can’t be there with her AND be at Miz Scarlett’s Table, so I am looking for a managing partner or an investor to help me continue to raise the bar on upscale dining in Moncks Corner,” she wrote on Facebook. “Since 2010 we have enjoyed the best patrons, that turned into friends, that any restaurant can claim”
The restaurant sat next to another popular restaurant, Music Man’s BBQ, on East Railroad Avenue and specialized in American and southern cooking. The business now sits empty.
After first opening its doors to the public in 2010, the restaurant received a lot of positive reviews online.
“Very impressive! My husband and I came on our anniversary and were treated like royalty!” wrote one customer from Charleston on the popular website Urbanspoon. “The ribeye & scallops I had and the New York Strip my husband had were just perfect. Service was just right, not too intrusive, but anticipated every need. Highly recommended!”
Others echoed this diner’s very same experience.
“LOVE THIS PLACE,” said another customer named Linda. “Best steaks and sides in Moncks Corner. Desserts are awesome too. Try the wine tasting they have as well.”
The restaurant made it a point to offer customers the same experience one receives when setting foot in a fine dining establishment in downtown Charleston—just minus the hefty price.
Entrees at the restaurant started at just $4.79.
