HANAHAN, S.C.–According to BCSD Spokesperson Chip Sturgis, Hanahan Elementary School was placed on administrative lockdown from approximately 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Friday based on law enforcement recommendations.
North Charleston and Hanahan Police Departments were conducting operations near the school campus, Sturgis stated.
There is an ongoing North Charleston Police Department investigation.
According to Lt. Michael Fowler with the Hanahan Police Department, Friday morning a North Charleston officer conducted a traffic stop on Stokes Road. The driver of the car then reportedly fled on foot in the direction of Hanahan.
Fowler said that’s when Hanahan police began assisting the North Charleston Police Department with the search.
There’s no word at this time if the driver of the car has been located.
