Obituaries

Joey Cumbee passed away September 2, 2022, at Richland Heart Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina. Joey was born to Calvin Cumbee of Bonneau, South Carolina, and Dannie Maxine Thornley of Macedonia, South Carolina.

He is preceded in death by his parents, as well as his beloved stepmother Yvonne Shealy Cumbee and his sister Brenda Thomas Hill.

Joey is survived by his children, Sabrina (Adalberto) Hernandez, Joey Cumbee, and Chad (Jessica) Cumbee; his grandchildren, Ariana Hernandez, Seth Hernandez, and Adam Cumbee; his brothers Joey (Patricia) West, Phil Cumbee, Clay (Michele) Cumbee, and Homer (Sylvia) West; his sisters Connie (Ronald) Phillips and Lori Cumbee; and nephews and nieces.

Joey was employed by Cumbee Construction Company for eight years and then worked as a mechanic and a mechanics supervisor at South Carolina Electric and Gas for approximately twenty-eight years.

He was loved by all of his family and friends and will be deeply missed. A memorial service will be held for Joey to be announced at a later date.
