MONCKS CORNER, S.C. — A 21-year-old Moncks Corner man is facing attempted murder charges after authorities say a shooting Thursday night in Dorchester County left one person hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds.
The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as Cyeaven Benn, 21, of Moncks Corner.

Deputies responded at approximately 10:28 p.m. Thursday to a residence on Birch Lane after receiving reports of a shooting.
When deputies arrived, they located Benn at the scene and immediately detained him while investigators worked to determine what happened, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies also found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. They began providing lifesaving medical care until additional emergency personnel arrived. The victim was then transported to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released the victim’s condition.
Investigators with the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene and took over the investigation.
Following the investigation, Benn was charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
Authorities have not released additional details about what led to the shooting or whether the suspect and victim knew one another.
