BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis announced that a warrant has been issued for 37 year-old Lonnie Haskell Powers, Jr. of Summerville for a Sunday afternoon homicide on Old Gilliard Road.
Responding to a call from the victim’s girlfriend, at approximately 12:37 PM on Sunday, December 13th, Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a shooting at 2467 Old Gilliard Road in the Ridgeville area of Berkeley County.
After clearing the residence, deputies located the victim inside. The victim appeared to have succumbed to a gunshot wound.
Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury identified the victim earlier today as 55 year-old James Anthony Hill.
A suspect was developed through a subsequent investigation, and an active warrant has been issued for the arrest of 37 year-old Lonnie Haskell Powers, Jr. of Summerville charging him with murder.
The motive for the murder is not yet known.
Powers was last seen driving a red, 2007 Kia Rio with South Carolina registration 624 1FE.
