BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Trident Health President and CEO Todd Gallati has announced the health system has purchased 22 acres near its Moncks Corner Medical Center for $2 million.
“We have no immediate plans to build on the site,” said Gallati.
The property is adjacent to Moncks Corner Medical Center, which opened in 1983. This year, more than 14,000 patients have already received emergency care at the medical center, which provides emergency services 24/7.
The medical center also includes an outpatient diagnostic center that offers a broad ranges of services: general radiology, mammography, labs; and physical rehabilitation.
Trident Health, a part of the Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), is a 407-bed hospital system comprised of two acute care hospitals — Trident Medical Center and Summerville Medical Center — as well as two freestanding emergency departments — Centre Pointe Emergency and Moncks Corner Medical Center.
For the tri-county area Trident Health treats more patients for stroke and heart attacks; performs more robotic surgeries; and cares for more pediatric ER patients than any other healthcare provider. Trident Medical Center is also scheduled to begin a $13.5 million ER and OR expansion in mid-January 2017.
