GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–On Thursday night, deputies with the Berkeley Co. Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting at an apartment complex on 100 Swift Boulevard.
When officers arrived on scene, they say they were met by residents who reported hearing gunshots behind one of the buildings. Deputies quickly located the 23-year-old man in another apartment building, and then notified EMS.
The victim was airlifted to MUSC. His condition is unknown at this time.
Deputies say the located several shell casings on the ground and found four vehicles nearby that looked to be damaged by gunfire.
Investigators estimated the damage to the vehicles to be around $4,600.
So far, the motive for the shooting remains unclear. Deputies have not named any suspects or persons of interest in the case.
