Freeze Warning Issued For Berkeley County Through Sunday

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for Berkeley County beginning Saturday, March 12 at 9 p.m. through Sunday, March 13 at 11 a.m.

Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 22 degrees are possible.

“Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing,” the National Weather Service said in a statement.

Meanwhile, a wind advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. Saturday, March 12.

Drivers should use extra caution when behind the wheel, especially if operating a high-profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.

Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
