BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Employees and other folks inside the Berkeley Co. Courthouse were forced to evacuate the building Thursday morning after a reported bomb scare. The threat also shut down several nearby roads.
According to a spokesperson with the sheriff’s office, the evacuations came after someone called 911 to report that the courthouse would explode if someone opened the front doors to the courthouse.
The Berkeley Co. Sheriff’s Office and the Charleston Co. Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
So far no one has been arrested in the incident, but deputies are actively working the case.
