BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.—According to a spokesperson for the local chapter of the American Red Cross, volunteers with their organization provided assistance to family of four on Sunday after a fire destroyed it.
The fire started at a home located on Cypress Gardens Road.
The Pimlico and Whitesville Fire Department quickly responded to the scene.
The Red Cross provided the family with temporary housing, referrals to partner agencies to help with the victims’ long term recovery, comfort kits as well as financial assistance for food and clothing lost in the fire.
Since Jan. 1 of this year, the Palmetto SC Region of the American Red Cross has assisted more than 1,700 individuals affected by disaster.
