In South Carolina over 17% of the population live in poverty, and over 23% of South Carolina children live below the poverty line.
That means one in six South Carolina families will not have enough food to feed themselves each night.
In the spirit of giving, the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office will be providing Thanksgiving baskets to less fortunate school children and their families.
The public is encouraged to participate.
Traditional Thanksgiving food items may be donated at select Berkeley County schools and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office at 223 Live Oak Drive in Moncks Corner.
Gift cards and monetary donations will also be accepted.
