ST. STEPHEN, S.C. – Timberland High School has named veteran coach Jeffrey Addison as its new head varsity girls basketball coach, bringing a familiar face and championship pedigree back to the Wolves program.

School officials announced Addison’s hiring Friday, highlighting his more than 26 years of high school varsity coaching experience and his longstanding ties to the Timberland community.

A Return Home for a Familiar Coach

Addison’s return marks a full-circle moment in his basketball career.

Before Timberland High was formed, Addison attended nearby St. Stephen High School, one of the legacy schools that later consolidated into Timberland. During a previous coaching stint at Timberland, he helped establish one of the most successful eras in the school’s basketball history.

Under Addison’s leadership, Timberland teams captured eight regional championships, two Lower State championships, and two state titles in 2005 and 2011.

Principal Timothy Evans praised Addison’s leadership and ability to mentor student-athletes both on and off the court.

“His history of success at Timberland speaks for itself,” Evans said in a statement. “More importantly, he understands the importance of building up young student athletes both on and off the court.”

Known for Defensive Discipline and Player Development

Addison has earned a reputation across South Carolina high school basketball for his emphasis on defensive intensity, strong fundamentals, and fast-paced, high-IQ play.

School leaders said his coaching philosophy goes beyond wins and championships, focusing heavily on academic success, accountability, mental toughness, and character development.

Throughout his career, Addison has helped develop numerous college-bound athletes while fostering team cultures centered around discipline and excellence.

‘A Special Place in My Heart’

Addison said returning to Timberland is both personal and meaningful.

“This community and school have always held a special place in my heart,” Addison said. “I look forward to building relationships with our students, families, and community as we work together to continue the proud tradition of Timberland basketball.”

His hiring comes as the school looks to build on its longstanding tradition of success in girls basketball while continuing to develop student-athletes both athletically and academically.
