Drug agents search suspicious package, find $10,000 worth of marijuana

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–According to Berkeley Co. Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Dan Moon, agents with the drug enforcement unit of the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man in connection with a suspicious package that, after a search, was found to contain approximately two  pounds of marijuana.

DEU investigators, along with the United States Postal Inspectors, encountered the suspect at 104 Bayleaf Ct.in the Sangaree area of Summerville and, with the suspect’s consent, searched the suspicious package.

Located in the package was a plastic container that contained two vacuumed sealed bags with approximately 991 gross grams of marijuana with a street value of almost $10,000.  Agents also seized a .45 caliber revolver.

Chom Manisay, 36,  was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

He is being held at the Hill-Finklea Detention Center awaiting a hearing before a bond judge.
