NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — Authorities have identified the man killed in a predawn collision Tuesday in North Charleston as Marvin Pressley Jr., 31, of Moncks Corner, according to Charleston County Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal.

Pressley was pronounced dead at 4:04 a.m. on May 26 at the scene of the crash near 4275 Bridge View Drive, where emergency crews responded around 3:52 a.m. The North Charleston Police Department is leading the investigation.

While officers were processing the scene, an uninvolved vehicle arrived and a woman approached investigators claiming to know the victim. Police say they immediately noticed signs of impairment.

The driver, Kaitlen Zaran Nelson, 24, of Summerville, was arrested after a field investigation and transported to the Al Cannon Detention Center, where she registered a 0.15% blood-alcohol concentration on a breath test. Officers also discovered her license was suspended in South Carolina.

Nelson now faces charges of Driving Under the Influence (1st Offense) and Driving Under Suspension (3rd or Subsequent Offense), according to NCPD.
