GOOSE CREEK, S.C. — The Goose Creek Police Department is inviting runners, walkers and families to lace up their sneakers and hit the pavement next month for a cause that extends well beyond the finish line.
The department’s 8th Annual Hot Pursuit 5K is set for Saturday, June 13, at the Daning Amphitheater beside Goose Creek City Hall. The event serves as a fundraiser for two of the department’s most popular holiday outreach programs: Operation Christmas Joy and Shop with a Badge.
Organizers say participants of all ages and fitness levels are encouraged to take part in the event, which has become a community tradition over the past eight years.

The morning will begin with a free Kids Run at 7:30 a.m., followed by the Hot Pursuit 5K at 8:30 a.m.
“This event is about bringing the community together while supporting local children and families during the holiday season,” organizers said.
Supporting Local Families
Funds raised through the race will directly benefit Operation Christmas Joy and Shop with a Badge, two programs that help provide gifts and holiday assistance to children and families in need throughout the Goose Creek area.
The annual race has become one of several community-focused initiatives hosted by the police department throughout the year.
Competitive Race Returns
In addition to recreational runners and walkers, this year’s Hot Pursuit 5K will also attract competitive participants. Organizers say the race is a qualifying event, allowing official finish times to count toward other races throughout the Lowcountry.
Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in multiple age divisions.

Registration is currently available online at this link and costs $45 per participant.
The event will be held at the Daning Amphitheater, located at 519 N. Goose Creek Blvd.
