Berkeley County Early Voting Begins This Week for Statewide Primary Runoffs

Voters can cast ballots June 17-18 at six locations across Berkeley County, with curbside voting available for seniors and residents with disabilities.

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. — Berkeley County voters will have two opportunities this week to cast their ballots ahead of South Carolina’s statewide primary runoff elections.

Early voting begins Wednesday, June 17, and continues through Thursday, June 18, with polling locations open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Registered Berkeley County voters may cast their ballots at any of six designated early voting locations throughout the county. Voters must present a valid photo identification to participate.

Early Voting Locations

The following locations will be open for early voting:

  • American Legion Hut, 180 Ravenell Drive, St. Stephen
  • Berkeley County Voter Registration & Elections Office, 1003 Highway 52, Moncks Corner
  • Daniel Island Library, 2301 Daniel Island Drive, Daniel Island
  • Goose Creek Library, 325 Old Moncks Corner Road, Goose Creek
  • Hanahan Library, 1216 Old Murray Court, Hanahan
  • Sangaree Library, 595 Sangaree Parkway, Summerville

Curbside Voting Available

Election officials said curbside voting will be available for voters who are unable to enter a polling location or stand in line due to a disability. The option is also available to voters age 65 and older.

Curbside voting allows eligible residents to remain in their vehicle while election workers assist them with the voting process.

Runoff Elections Determine Party Nominees

Primary runoff elections are held when no candidate receives the required percentage of votes during a primary election, sending the top candidates back to voters for a final decision on who will advance as their party’s nominee.

Election officials are encouraging voters to take advantage of the early voting period to avoid potential lines on Election Day and ensure their voices are heard in the runoff contests.
