MONCKS CORNER, S.C. — A pedestrian was killed Thursday morning after being struck by a vehicle along U.S. Highway 52 in Moncks Corner, according to local authorities.
Officers with the Moncks Corner Police Department responded to the scene at approximately 7:38 a.m. on June 18 after receiving reports of a motor vehicle versus pedestrian collision.

When emergency responders arrived, police said they located an adult pedestrian who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released as officials work to notify next of kin.
The circumstances leading up to the collision remain under investigation.
Moncks Corner Police are working alongside the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office and the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office to determine exactly what happened.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time,” Moncks Corner Police Chief Antwan Richardson said in a statement.
“We are committed to conducting a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.”
