BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–In response to the recent increase in crime in Lincolnville, members of the Charleston, Dorchester, and Berkeley County Sheriff’s Offices along with the North Charleston Police Department, the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Al Cannon Detention Center joined forces Friday.
From 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., officers initiated a coordinated plan developed with the input of members of the Lincolnville community to address the spike in criminal activity in the Lincolnville area.
Earlier this week, a shooting in Lincolnville sent three people to the hospital.
Deputies say there was also a fourth shooting victim who showed up at Summerville Medical Center on Tuesday night; however, it’s unclear if it’s related to the other shootings.
Investigators have not said what led to the triple shooting but are trying to determine if it’s related to gunfire that killed two men in a garage Monday night about three miles away on Brailsford Boulevard in Dorchester County.
According to Lt. Chris Brokaw with the Charleston Co. Sheriff’s Office, Friday’s initiative was successfully completed by the multiple law enforcement agencies through the use of traffic check points and several warrant sweep teams.
Following are the initial results of the undertaking:
- 15+ Arrests
- 14 Traffic Citations
- 17 Warning Citations
- 25+ Warrants Served
- ‘Light The Way For Hope’ Ceremony To Remember Those Lost To Overdose - August 22, 2024
- Berkeley County Opening Emergency Shelters Ahead of Debby - August 5, 2024
