BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of 59-year-old Michael Edward Davidson of Summerville, S.C. on seven counts involving the sexual exploitation of minors.
The Berkeley County Sheriffâs Office, a member of the S.C. Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, made the arrest.
Investigators say Davidson was involved in sending child pornography via file sharing.
Acting Berkeley Co. Sheriff Rick Ollic said, “This office will continue to fully support the S.C. Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Our number one priority is keeping the digital streets of the Internet just as safe for our children as the paved ones they play on in our neighborhoods.”
Davidson was arrested on February 16, 2015 and charged with seven (7) counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, second degree (§16-15-405), a felony offense punishable by up to ten (10) years imprisonment on each count.
Officials say a desktop computer was seized for forensic examination, along with an external storage device.
Bond was set at $70,000 and Davidson is to have no contact with children under age 17 (except his own child); no access to the Internet or electronic devices capable of accessing the Internet; and must remain at least two blocks from areas where children congregate, such as daycare facilities, playgrounds, schools, libraries and public parks.
The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.
