BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–On Thursday March 5, 2015 Cainhoy Fire Department responded to 543 Ladson Lane off of Cainhoy Road for a reported fully involved structure fire. Cainhoy Fire Department was dispatched at 3:03pm, and the first unit arrived on scene at 3:15pm.
Upon arrival, crews found a mobile home fully involved in flames, the home had already collapsed before fire units arrived. The fire had also spread to a vehicle in front of the house. Crews were able to confirm that nobody was in the home at the time the fire broke out.
Cainhoy firefighters quickly brought the fire under control in approximately fifteen (15) minutes. Crews remained on scene for approximately ninety (90) minutes to overhaul the area, douse hotspots, and ensure that the fire was completely extinguished. No occupant or firefighter injuries were reported, however several cats perished in the blaze.
The American Red Cross was called to the scene and is providing assistance to the residents. The cause of the fire is still under investigation; however it does not appear suspicious in nature at this time.
Cainhoy Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Cordesville Rural Fire Department and the City of Charleston Fire Department. Berkeley County EMS also responded to the scene.
