Chicken Poop Bingo? Goose Creek Fundraiser Promises Laughs, Prizes for a Good Cause

Friends of Berkeley County Animals hopes quirky fundraiser at Stone's Throw Brewing will help raise money for local rescue efforts and spay-neuter programs.

GOOSE CREEK, S.C. — If you’ve ever played bingo, chances are you’ve never played it quite like this.

A Berkeley County animal advocacy group is inviting residents to gather at Stone’s Throw Brewing later this month for an event that combines cold drinks, food, fundraising and some very unpredictable chickens.

The event, appropriately called Chicken Poop Bingo, is scheduled for Saturday, June 27, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Stone’s Throw Brewing, located at 101 Button Hall Ave. in Goose Creek.

The concept is simple: Participants purchase bingo cards, grab a drink and a bite to eat, and then wait to see where a chicken decides to leave its mark. Wherever the chicken “chooses” to go ultimately determines the winning square.

In other words, this may be one of the few games where luck isn’t the only thing involved.

There will be plenty of laughs, prizes for every round, and perhaps most importantly, a chance to support animals in need throughout Berkeley County.

Raising Money for Local Animals

The fundraiser is being hosted by Friends of Berkeley County Animals, a nonprofit organization that works to support animal welfare efforts across the county.

According to organization President Olivia Whitehurst, proceeds from the event will help fund rescue efforts and provide financial assistance for spay and neuter surgeries for a limited number of pit bull-type dogs in Berkeley County each month.

“We are endeavoring daily to help support more animal rescues within Berkeley County and also give back to our community by paying for spay and neuter surgeries,” Whitehurst said.

The group hopes the unusual fundraiser will generate additional donations and allow it to expand the number of animals it can assist.

“We are hoping that this is going to be an exceptionally great day and raise a lot of money so that we can support the care of more animals,” she said.

A Family-Friendly Afternoon

Organizers describe the event as family-friendly and encourage attendees to bring spouses, children and lawn chairs for a relaxed afternoon on the brewery patio.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase, and special Chicken Poop Bingo T-shirts will also be sold during the event.

One thing guests should leave at home, however, is their own pets.

While the fundraiser focuses on helping animals, organizers are asking attendees not to bring furry companions to the event.

And for anyone concerned about the welfare of the featured chicken, organizers have already addressed the obvious question.

“No chickens will be harmed in the making of this shindig,” the event announcement states.

An Unusual Tradition Growing in Popularity

While it may sound unusual, chicken poop bingo fundraisers have become increasingly popular across the country as creative ways for nonprofits to raise money.

The games rely largely on chance—and a chicken’s complete lack of concern for human plans—making each round unpredictable and entertaining for participants.

For Friends of Berkeley County Animals, the hope is that a little humor and a lot of community spirit can translate into real help for local animals.

And for those attending, it may also provide a unique opportunity to tell friends they survived a game of Chicken Poop Bingo in Goose Creek.

Whether that’s a badge of honor or a conversation starter is up to them.
