BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–South Carolina State Representative Samuel Rivers (R – Goose Creek) was awarded the prestigious “Sword and Mace” Award for his 100% pro-business voting record in 2015 from the South Carolina Business and Industry Political Education Committee (SCBIPEC).
The recognition ceremony was part of SCBIPEC’s Annual Meeting that is often referred to as “the premier political event for South Carolina’s business community.”

DeLoach also called Rivers “one of the few (legislators) that business and industry know to be a champion of free enterprise and competition.”
Rivers, who represents Berkeley and Charleston Counties and serves as the Assistant Majority Whip, expressed his gratitude for the recognition.
“My commitment to the residents of Berkeley, Charleston and the entire state is unwavering, particularity as it relates to ensuring our state’s economy continues to improve and our neighbors have real opportunities to provide for their families,” said Rivers. “I am humbled and honored to be recognized by the state’s leading business organization for this commitment, and I will continue to advance pro-business, pro-jobs policies.”
