MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – Known for its unique menu of gourmet burgers, the popular food truck, The Burger Factory, outpaced its growth this year. As a result, it opened its very first brick and mortar location at 406 Corner Square Plaza in Moncks Corner Saturday, Sept. 11.
In 2013, owner and burger chef, Jessica Gourdine, conceived the idea of these “experimental burgers,” and quickly grew a customer base that would out grow the food truck.
“I thought I’d see if these ideas in my head would translate into an actual sustainable business, so in February 2019, I got into the food truck business to see if the market would respond,” said Gourdine.
And it did. The Burger Factory began setting up occasionally at local events around the town, and expanded its operations at larger Charleston events and breweries. It wasn’t until Gourdine begin to permanently set up on Highway 52 that she realized she found a home.
“We were selling out within only a few hours. Moncks Corner has seen its share of growth, with the addition of several new restaurants, so it was rewarding to see the appreciation for the effort we put into making our burgers. With menus items like Holy Guacamole, The Snob and the Free Bird, customers get a new experience out of each meal.
Jessica will be the second Gourdine to open a restaurant in Moncks Corner within the last two years. Older sister of The Juice Bar owners, Nicholas and Natasha Gourdine, this sibling pair have each other’s experience to pull from.
“When she first started we would both alternate between the food truck and The Juice Bar, so we can be
a part of each other success,” said Nicholas Gourdine.
