HANAHAN, S.C. — Drivers in Hanahan should prepare for traffic disruptions as a railroad crossing along Otranto Boulevard is set to close for emergency repairs, according to Berkeley County officials.
The closure will impact Otranto Boulevard between Rivers Avenue and North Basilica Avenue, where CSX crews are scheduled to conduct maintenance work.

Officials say the crossing will be shut down beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday, April 9, and is expected to remain closed until 5 a.m. Friday, April 10. During that time, no vehicles will be permitted to cross the tracks.
Detour routes will be clearly marked, and a digital message board has been placed near the site to notify approaching drivers of the closure.
Berkeley County leaders are urging motorists to plan ahead, expect delays and avoid the area if possible while repairs are underway.
The work schedule could change depending on weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances, officials said.
