GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–Goose Creek Mayor Michael Heitzler signed a proclamation declaring March 9-15 “South Carolina Lions Sight and Hearing Conservation Week” in Goose Creek.
The proclamation recognizes the outstanding work done by the Lions and Lionesses of the State of South Carolina in support of sight and hearing conservation and aid to the blind and deaf.
It also voices support for the organization’s annual Candy Day drive, which provides funds for the Lions Mobile Health Screening Unit.
The drive helps to fund eye examinations, eye surgeries and eye glasses for people in need, helps in the purchase of hearing aids for persons in need.
It also helps support two camps for blind children in South Carolina.
