MONCKS CORNER, S.C. — The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office is expanding its outreach efforts with the launch of a new podcast aimed at giving residents a closer look at the people and work behind the agency.

Officials announced Monday the release of the first episode of “The Berkeley Buzz,” a new series designed to connect with the community through conversations, transparency and behind-the-scenes insight.

The debut episode, titled “Allow Me to Reintroduce Myself,” features Sheriff Duane Lewis, who offers a more personal perspective on his leadership and career. In the episode, Lewis reflects on his background, discusses the inspiration behind a book he authored and shares the legacy he hopes to leave through his service in Berkeley County.

The conversation also touches on what Lewis believes defines an effective deputy sheriff, emphasizing the importance of character, commitment and community-focused policing.

“We are excited to launch this podcast as another way to engage with our community,” Lewis said in a statement. “This platform allows us to share our stories, our mission, and our vision in a more personal and meaningful way.”

According to the sheriff’s office, the podcast is intended to provide residents with greater transparency while also educating the public about law enforcement operations and priorities.

The first episode is available on the agency’s Facebook page and YouTube channel, with officials encouraging residents to tune in, provide feedback and suggest topics for future episodes.

The sheriff’s office says additional episodes are expected as part of an ongoing effort to strengthen communication and engagement with the Berkeley County community.
