MONCKS CORNER, S.C. — One person is in custody following a shooting Saturday at a Bojangles restaurant in Moncks Corner that left one person injured, according to police.
Officers with the Moncks Corner Police Department responded to reports of gunfire at the restaurant, located at 2711 Highway 52, on Saturday. When they arrived, they found a victim suffering from injuries that authorities said were not life-threatening.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and is expected to recover.
Police said officers were able to quickly identify a suspect, who was located and taken into custody without incident. Authorities have not yet released the suspect’s name or any potential charges.
Investigators said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The Moncks Corner Police Department is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting and is working with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, which assisted in the response.
In a news release, police emphasized their commitment to public safety, assuring residents that the situation was contained and that officers acted swiftly to secure the scene.
