
ST. GEORGE, S.C. — Authorities have identified the young man killed in a violent crash on I‑26 early Saturday morning near St. George.
Dorchester County Coroner Paul Brouthers says 19-year-old Lucca Acosta‑Navas of Huger died after his vehicle struck the back of an 18‑wheeler while traveling eastbound around 4:30 a.m. on April 25.
The impact caused Acosta‑Navas to be ejected from his vehicle and thrown into the roadway, where he was hit by another passing car, according to the coroner’s office.
He was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:53 a.m.
An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, April 29 at the Medical University of South Carolina.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Dorchester County Coroner’s Office are continuing to investigate the crash.
