BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. — A 32-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday morning in Berkeley County, according to the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office.
Coroner Darnell Hartwell said the incident was reported around 7:37 a.m. on April 29 along South Carolina Highway 41. The victim, identified as David Lee of McClellanville, was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle.
Additional details released by the South Carolina Highway Patrol indicate the crash occurred around 7:30 a.m. near Jericho Horse Trail. Troopers said a 2008 Toyota sedan was traveling south on Highway 41 when it ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.
Lee was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the collision, officials said.
Multiple agencies responded to the crash, including the City of Charleston Fire & Rescue, Berkeley County EMS, Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office and Cainhoy Fire & Rescue.
Authorities have not released additional details about what may have caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.
The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol continue to investigate.
