Twenty-six teams, with players from all over the Lowcountry, competed in the double elimination, random draw tournament held on Thursday, April 28 at the Community Center.

The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a man wanted on felony warrants.
Deputies said they are looking for 24-year-old Charles Edward Britt, Jr., of Tea Rose Lane in St. Stephen.
He is considered armed and dangerous.

The Moncks Corner Police Department is seeking the public’s help in solving a 15-year-old homicide.
On Jan. 14, 2009, police responded to a house on Jenkins Street. When police arrived at the location, they found Michael J. Starks dead from gunshot wounds inside his home. He was 21-years-old.

A popular restaurant chain is now open for business in Berkeley County. Huey Magoo’s newest location is up and running in Goose Creek, the company announced Wednesday.
“Join us at our 56th store location to see what America has been raving about,” the chicken chain posted to Facebook.
The restaurant is located at 431 St. James Avenue where the old Bojangles once stood. Hours of operation are Sunday-Thursday from 10:30 a.m.-10 p.m. and Friday-Saturday from 10:30 a.m.-11 p.m.
“We are thrilled to kick off 2024 with our first grand opening of the year in Goose Creek, South Carolina and resume our rapid nationwide expansion,” President and CEO Andy Howard said.

A 3-year-old dog neglected and in poor health tied to a post near railroad tracks is currently in the care of Berkeley County Animal Center and receiving life-saving medical attention.
According to the shelter, a railroad worker recently discovered Honey, a 3-year-old Pocket Pitbull, starving, tortured by infected skin, and suffering from life-threatening complications. She also tested positive for heartworms.

Carolyn Lewis School in Summerville will soon have a new principal.
At Tuesday evening’s regular school board meeting, members voted unanimously to have Jillian Zuber fill that role.
Acting Principal, Marion Baird, Executive Director of Leadership and School Support (Elementary Schools), will continue to lead the school until Zuber joins the Loggerheads on Jan. 29, according to the Berkeley County School District.
