CHARLESTON, S.C. – A Berkeley County man has died following an armed robbery attempt Tuesday night at a restaurant in downtown Charleston, police said.
Charleston County Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal has identified the shooting victim as Gaber Baghdady, 64, of Hanahan. He died just before midnight in downtown Charleston.
According to the Charleston Police Department, one person is now in jail in connection with the shooting. Antwan Lamont Scott has been charged with murder, attempted armed robbery, burglary 2nd degree (violent) and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
Around 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, police said Charleston County Consolidated Dispatch received several 911 calls about shots being fired in the area of Radcliffe Street and King Street in downtown Charleston.

CPD officers responded to Toast All Day at 451 King St. within minutes and said they found Baghdady lying near the rear entrance with a gunshot wound and already deceased.
During an investigation, police said they determined Scott entered the restaurant and confronted Baghdady, an employee there, to try to rob him.
Police said during that armed robbery attempt, Baghdady was shot.
Scott, who is a former employee of the restaurant group, was arrested and booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center, police said. He is scheduled to have a bond hearing Thursday at 2 p.m
