GOOSE CREEK, S.C. — The Goose Creek Fire Department is opening its doors to the community next month, offering residents a behind‑the‑scenes look at fire operations and hands‑on safety education during a family‑friendly open house.
The event will take place Saturday, May 16, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the department’s headquarters, located at 201 Button Hall Avenue.
Fire officials say the goal is to give families a chance to meet firefighters, explore equipment, and learn practical tips that could save lives during emergencies.
Visitors will be able to tour the station, view fire apparatus up close, and speak directly with first responders about fire prevention, home safety, and emergency preparedness. The department will also host local vendors and safety partners who will share additional resources with attendees.
The open house will feature free food, games, and activities for children, including face painting, jump castles, and GellyBall. Fire officials say the event is designed to make safety education approachable and engaging for all ages.
Goose Creek Fire Chief and city leaders have emphasized the importance of community outreach as the city continues to grow.
Events like this, they say, help strengthen relationships between first responders and the residents they serve.
The open house is free and open to the public.
