NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — A Moncks Corner man was killed early Thursday after his SUV veered off the road near the Highway 52 off‑ramp, according to the Charleston County Coroner’s Office and the North Charleston Police Department.

The coroner identified the victim as 48‑year‑old Glenford Stoltzfus, who died at the scene around 5:38 a.m. on May 14 from injuries sustained in the single‑vehicle crash.

North Charleston police said emergency crews were alerted to the wreck after receiving an automated crash notification from an iPhone in the area of U.S. Highway 52 and NAD Road.

When officers arrived, they found an SUV that had been traveling the wrong way before leaving the roadway and crashing into the woods. Stoltzfus, the only person in the vehicle, was still inside and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The North Charleston Police Department’s Traffic Unit and the Charleston County Coroner’s Office are conducting a joint investigation to determine what led to the crash.

Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to submit a tip through NCPD’s CRIMEWATCH platform.
