Moncks Corner Police: Domestic violence call leads to multi‑agency pursuit and arrest

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. — A man is in custody after a violent domestic incident early Sunday morning that led to a high‑speed chase and crash along Highway 52, according to Moncks Corner Police Chief Antwan Richardson.

Officers responded around 3:46 a.m. on May 17 to a report of domestic violence in progress at the Circle K located at 2800 Highway 52. Investigators say the male suspect assaulted a woman, forced her into the trunk of a vehicle, and fled the scene.

While searching for the vehicle, officers spotted it traveling at speeds exceeding 100 mph. When they attempted a traffic stop, the driver refused to pull over, sparking a pursuit. Moments later, the suspect’s vehicle crashed, and the driver fled on foot.

Police say all parties involved were evaluated at a local hospital.

With help from multiple law enforcement agencies, the suspect was later found and taken into custody. He has been booked into the Hill‑Finklea Detention Center and faces multiple charges. Police have not released the suspect’s name at this time.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the collision. Authorities confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Chief Richardson praised the teamwork of responding officers and partner agencies, calling their efforts “professional, coordinated, and dedicated throughout this incident.”
