SUMMERVILLE, S.C. — A two‑day warrant sweep carried out by the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office and the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest of 16 people this week, as deputies from both agencies teamed up to track down individuals wanted on a range of misdemeanor and felony charges.
The coordinated operation took place Tuesday and Wednesday across multiple jurisdictions, targeting offenders who officials say posed ongoing risks to public safety. Deputies worked jointly to identify, locate, and take wanted individuals into custody.

Dorchester County Sheriff Sam Richardson said the sweep underscores the agencies’ shared commitment to pursuing offenders who attempt to avoid accountability.
“This operation sends a clear message that criminals cannot hide behind county lines,” Richardson said. “The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to working alongside our law enforcement partners to hold offenders accountable and keep our communities safe.”
Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis echoed that message, emphasizing the strength of the partnership between the two departments.
“This operation highlights the strong working relationship between the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office and the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office,” Lewis said. “By working together and sharing resources, we are able to more effectively locate wanted individuals, hold offenders accountable, and enhance the safety of the communities we serve across both counties.”
The sweep is the latest in a series of joint enforcement efforts between the two agencies, which have increasingly collaborated as population growth and mobility across county lines continue to rise.
Dorchester County officials thanked Berkeley County deputies for their coordination and said they expect similar operations in the future as part of a broader regional strategy to address crime.
