BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–The ‘Shuckin’ for Shelter Oyster Roast benefiting Callen-Lacey Center for Children will be held from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, February 20 at Crowfield Golf Club, 300 Hamlet Circle, Goose Creek, SC 29445.

The annual charity event raises funds to support the Callen-Lacey Center for Children of Carolina Youth Development Center, the only emergency shelter in Berkeley County serving abused, abandoned and neglected children.

“When you buy tickets to Callen-Lacey Center fundraising events, you help us support youth in foster care like Derrick who has been with the shelter for a little over a year. Unfortunately, due to circumstances outside his control, Derrick lacks the family support network that you and I take for granted,” wrote organizers on their official Facebook page.

Advance online tickets are $30. Online sales end on Friday, February 19 at 5 p.m. After that they are $35 at the door. Free for children 12 and under.

Proceeds go to the Callen-Lacey Center to help them continue providing a safe, nurturing environment for at-risk youth.

Callen-Lacey Center for Children, the only emergency shelter serving the children of Berkeley County, opened at its Moncks Corner location in 1998.

The shelter was developed in response to a critical need identified by a 1992 Trident United Way Needs Assessment which defined “children in crisis” as a top priority.
