For over 100 years, Clemson University has offered quality summer programs for the young people of South Carolina, with the very first programs developed and operated by SC 4-H.
This summer, SC 4-H offers residential summer camps especially for active club members ages 7 to 14.
4-H Club Summer Camp helps young club members develop the skills they need to succeed in all areas of life. From wake up to lights out, campers enjoy new challenges, discovery, friendships and fun, with a focus on developing character through cooperation, teamwork, respect for others and for our natural environment — all at a great value and a high level of staff training and expertise.
Two sessions will be held this year:
- Session #1 will take place June 14-18 at the W.W. Long 4-H Leadership Center in Aiken, known as “Camp Long,” located at 82 Wire Rd. in Aiken.
- Session #2 will take place July 19 – 23 at Camp Bob Cooper, 8001 M. W. Rickenbaker Road in Summerton. Campers check in on Sunday at 3 p.m. and depart on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
Tuition is $250 for 4-H members and $260 for non-members. Limited scholarships may be available for military youth. Transportation to and from camp is not provided.
Camp facilities include recreation areas, basketball courts, baseball field, lakes for swimming and canoeing, team challenge courses, a climbing wall, and hiking trails. Additional camp activities include group games, archery and shooting sports, healthy lifestyles sessions, night activities, field and water Olympics, slip and slide water games, a dance and talent show.
Membership is open to young people who wish to join a local 4-H Club to participate in summer camp as well as great year-round programs. Spaces for summer camp are limited.
