MONCKS CORNER, S.C. — A missing 16-year-old girl who prompted an urgent search in Berkeley County has been safely located, according to the Moncks Corner Police Department.

Police Chief Antwan Richardson announced that Scarlet Elizabeth Johnson, who was reported missing after she was last seen April 30, has been found safe. Officials did not release additional details about where she was located.

“We are grateful for the swift and coordinated efforts that contributed to this positive outcome,” Richardson said. “I would like to extend our sincere appreciation to our media partners and the community for sharing information promptly, which played a critical role in this case.”

Authorities had previously said Scarlet may have left her home overnight and was not believed to have a cell phone, prompting heightened concern and a public appeal for help.

Richardson also praised the work of his department, noting officers worked continuously to bring the case to a resolution.

“Our officers worked tirelessly around the clock to locate Ms. Johnson and ensure her safe return,” he said. “Their commitment to protecting our community is unwavering.”

The police department thanked the public and media for their assistance, emphasizing that community cooperation played a key role in the safe outcome.

The case is now considered resolved.
