Although the event is free to attend, city officials said tickets were required for entry and distributed in limited quantities. A maximum of two tickets per registration was allowed, and children older than 2 also required tickets.

Following overwhelming demand, tickets have now sold out, though fans can still sign up for a waitlist in hopes that additional spots become available.

In a May 8 Facebook post promoting the concert, the city warned residents to be cautious of scams and unofficial ads claiming to sell tickets.

“This event is FREE,” the city wrote. “Please be aware of ads selling tickets.”

Grammy-winning group known for ‘Tennessee’

Arrested Development rose to national prominence in the early 1990s with socially conscious lyrics and a sound that contrasted sharply with the gangsta rap era dominating hip-hop at the time.

The group became the first hip-hop act ever to win the Grammy Award for Best New Artist and also earned a Grammy for Best Rap Performance for its hit song “Tennessee.”

“Tennessee” was later recognized by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as one of the “500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll” and was named among VH1’s top songs of the 1990s.

Over the past two decades, Arrested Development has continued touring internationally and releasing new music while maintaining a reputation for energetic live performances focused on positivity, spirituality and celebration.

The group was also honored during the 2019 Black Music Honors Awards for its contributions to African American music.

Black Lion Reggae to bring Caribbean-inspired sound

Opening the show will be Black Lion Reggae, a band known for transforming both classic and modern hits into reggae-inspired performances.

The group regularly performs reggae versions of songs originally recorded by artists such as Journey, Adele and Dobie Gray.

According to event organizers, the band has developed a strong regional following for its high-energy performances and “fun in the sun” atmosphere.

The June concert is expected to draw one of the Daning Amphitheater’s largest crowds of the summer season as Goose Creek continues expanding its lineup of free public entertainment events.
